Facing of the Week: La Flor Dominicana El Jocko Maduro (Review)

The reason we chose the La Flor Dominicana El Jocko for this weeks facing of the week is for a few reasons. This months special is on La Flor Dominicana, and we are having them in for an event later this month. Another reason we chose this one is because its a nice small size. Appearance:

This cigar features a very nice maduro wrapper. The leaf is very dark brown with a slight red hint to it. The cigar is a perfecto with both ends being tapered. There are a couple thin veins running through the leaf, but overall the cigar is very smooth. There is a nice oily shine to this cigar as well. The cap on this perfecto is perfectly flush with the rest of the cigar.

Construction:

This cigar is uniformly solid throughout. The construction is so good that the burn was perfectly even throughout the entire smoke. The draw was pretty easy throughout the small perfecto end. Th smoke was abundant and gave off a spicy aroma.

Flavor:

From start to finish the flavor was great in this cigar. This cigar started off with a strong pepper base, but the profile slowly smoothed out. Once the profile balanced, a nice leather flavor came out with a slightly sweet flavor. The background of the flavor profile was a very strong earthiness and woodiness.

 

The second half of this cigar involved a bit more leather flavor. There was a strong punch to this cigar. Definitely full bodied. Towards the end of this cigar, the mild sweetness picks up slightly. The finish was absolutely great. Strong, but smooth ending.
