Cigar of the Week: Diamond Crown Maduro No. 4 (Review)

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
Filler: Dominican
Binder: Dominican

This cigar is going to be on special this week. The reason we chose this cigar for the week is because Diamond Crown is going to be featured at our event April 20th. We wanted to give you a little preview of what is going to be on special that night.

Appearance:
This cigar features a very dark brown Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper. The wrapper leaf looks a little rough, but is actually very smooth to the touch. The wrapper also appears to be very oily with a couple thin veins running throughout it. The cap is smooth and perfectly flush with the rest of the cigar. When we gave this cigar a final look over, we noticed it had a sweet and earthy smell to it.

Construction:
This cigar is very solid from the cap to the foot. The flush cap is composed of two layers. The foot on this cigar shows just how tightly packed this cigar is. The only thing out of the ordinary we noticed was on one cigar there was a very little bit of extra glue.

The burn was a little uneven at times, but that was due to the thickness of the wrapper. The Connecticut Broadleaf is very thick, and tends to have some burn issues occasionally. The draw was a little tight, but it wasn't bad at all.

Flavor:
This cigar started out with a very strong wood flavor immediately. But shortly after the cigar picked up and released some sweet notes that resembled chocolate. Overall the flavor profile was very creamy. By about an inch of the way in some coffee flavors started to form with a nice mild spice accent.

By the time we got down to the second third, the cigar became much sweeter and creamier. Even though the profile was sweet, the spice picked up a little bit. And by halfway the wood became even more prominent. Towards the end of the second third, the coffee notes were completely gone.

The last couple inches was the creamiest section of this cigar. The spice really mellowed out and let the earthiness and woody notes take center stage. The sweetness even seemed to mellow out a little bit. Overall the finish was great and full of flavor.

Overall:
This cigar is going fast, so if this sounds like something you may like, come and grab one. We are sure you wont be disappointed.

Until next time,

The Xhale Lounge Crew
